Welcome!

Greetings! I hope to share my spiritual path through this website and blog. I worked as a Social Worker for over 29 years in a Public Welfare agency (MSW – 1979). Upon my retirement I was called to the ministry, attended seminary (Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC) where I earned an MDiv (2011). One of the greatest gifts and joys was my ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. I strive to do well before the Lord.

I have been a practitioner of many forms of prayer which led me to study with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation (https://shalem.org/ Washington DC) and completed the Transforming Community: Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups and Retreats Program (2007) and Nurturing the Call: Spiritual Guidance Program (2018).

During the days of the pandemic I was gifted by two communities of faith; one is a Centering Prayer group which meets weekly via zoom and the other is a Jewish weekly Shabbat and Mindfulness gathering also via zoom. https://www.minyanonegshabbat.org/

I have also become involved with the Interfaith Council or Washington, DC (https://ifcmw.org/) Each year they sponsor a Unity Walk in Washington. We visit a synagogue, churches and the Islamic Center of Washington along our walk.

Since the pandemic two additional prayer groups have emerged in which I participate. Each of these are gatherings of the Spirit and fellowship and are like ‘Home’ for me. These experiences are avenues in which I am able to look inward, to experience my Soul and from these gifts of the Spirit be in Life as a Child of God, a Child of the Creation, a child of Love.

I am available for Spiritual Direction/Companion/Guide. Creating and facilitating workshops on the many beautiful forms of prayer (Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, imagery, icons, etc.). Spiritual growth and wellness are a joy for me. I have led prayer groups in a prison setting.

I retired from full time ministry in 2019. However, the Holy One has continued to call me and I currently serve two rural churches in Northern Virginia part time. I grow in the Spirit each time I discern a sermon, and communicate with parishioners by phone, email or traditional mail.

I am married to Alessandra Cortese de Bosis, a translator/interpreter (Italian, French and English). I have been wondrously gifted with three daughters (now adults) and when Alessandra and I married I was not only beautifully gifted with sharing in her life but also the life of her son (now adult). Since my retirement I have taken up baking, gardening and pottery as hobbies. I enjoy the outdoors and feel blessed to be living in the countryside outside of Culpeper, Va.

Grace and Peace,

Shalom,
